University Honors Students for Achievements

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech celebrated the accomplishments of several students at the university’s annual Honors Luncheon on Saturday, April 6.

The following individuals won awards given by the university:

  • Erica Shwering of Greensburg, Ind., was the student winner of the Kekionga Feather Award. This award is given for outstanding service to the student body of Indiana Tech. She also was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
  • Clea Endres of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Megan Garrison of Cutler, Ind., won the Hayashi Award. The Hayashi Award recognizes senior athletes who have done the most to promote athletics and academics at Indiana Tech. Endres and Garrison also were both selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
  • Kathryn Rettich of Germantown, Ohio, won the Outstanding Humanities Student Award. She also was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
  • Darius Darling of Detroit, Mich., won the Alumni Association Scholarship.
  • Matthew Hansen, from Fort Wayne, Ind., was named the Volunteer Networker of the Year.
  • Aubree Reichel of Puyallup, Wash., was named Tutor of the Year. She also was selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society.
  • Amanda Northup, from LaGrange, Ind., was named Student Ambassador of the Year.
  • Nathan Whetstone, from Fort Wayne, Ind., was named Computer Lab Monitor of the Year.
  • Andrea Check, director of student life, was the staff winner of the Kekionga Feather Award.
  • Indiana Tech’s student chapter of the National Society for Black Engineers was named Student Organization of the Year.

In addition to the awards above, the following students were honored for being selected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges:

  • Klaudia Velazquez of Pingree Grove, IL
  • Jarrod Williams of Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Fernando Zapari of Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Mitchell Burton of Danville, Ind.
  • Kayla Foreman of Decatur, Ind.
  • Daniel Haught of Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Jessica James of Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Rebecca Kurtz of Farmersville, Ohio
  • Christopher Miller of Salem, Ore.
  • Kelsea Nova of Toledo, Ohio
  • Abigail Torian of Cadiz, Ky.

Also, the following students were honored for being inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society:
