McMillen Library Awarded $10,000 LSTA Grant

Fort Wayne, Ind.—Indiana Tech has received a $10,000 grant to integrate mobile technology into McMillen Library to foster lifelong learning among students. This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), administered by the Indiana State Library.

The McMillen Library project includes:

• The circulation of iPads and iPad minis to increase students’ access to technology and electronic resources.
• The implementation of monthly instructional classes to emphasize technology, information literacy, critical thinking, lifelong learning, and the successful transition from the classroom to the workforce.

“Through the instructional classes, students will become prepared for a successful transition from college to the modern workforce,” said McMillen Library Director Connie Scott. “Our goal is to promote the skills needed for academic, professional and personal engagement.”

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 17,500 museums.
