Community service projects to mark inauguration of President Einolf

Indiana Tech will mark the occasion of its official inauguration of Dr. Karl W. Einolf as the university’s ninth president with a week of community service and campus events starting Monday, Nov. 27. Dr. Einolf, who began his tenure at Indiana Tech on July 1, will be officially inaugurated on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Indiana Tech students, faculty & staff, and alumni will take part in community service projects including:

• Habitat for Humanity.  Two worksites on Tuesday, November 28 – landscaping and site work at Habitat for Humanity’s new ReStore location on Lima Road, and work on a home in Fuller’s Landing on a home already dedicated to a local family.
• Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Volunteers will take part in the Love Rocks project, painting rocks which are used as inspirational tokens for clients of Cancer Services; and will work on the Rainbow Ribbons project, which makes cancer awareness ribbons to be given out across the region.
• Mats for the Homeless. Coordinated by The Chapel, this project creates lightweight, durable mats out of plastic bags for the homeless.
• Warrior Warmth Project. Coordinated by Indiana Tech’s student Leader Scholars group, to benefit the Ave Maria House. Volunteers will create fleece blankets and also participate in a toiletries drive to collect items such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc. for donation.

In addition to community service projects, the week will also include Indiana Tech’s Distinguished Faculty Lecture. Professor Jeff Walls will present on “Talent Attraction & Retention in the 21st Century:  Critical HR Challenges & Opportunities” on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. in the theater in the Snyder Academic Center on the Indiana Tech campus. The presentation will feature a panel discussion of area human resources professionals who are Indiana Tech alums, including Baily Beiswanger, Human Resources Manager at Micropulse; Ashley Benvenuti, Human Resources Manager at Superior Aluminum Alloys; Mike Torres, Vice President of Compensation and Benefits at STAR Bank; and Morgan York, Human Resources Coordinator at SIRVA Worldwide Relocation and Moving. The presentation is free and open to members of the public and area business and HR professionals.

The week’s events will culminate on Saturday, Dec. 2 with the official inauguration of Dr. Einolf in a ceremony at 2:00pm in the Schaefer Center on Indiana Tech’s main campus. Attendees will include Indiana Tech students, members of the university’s Board of Trustees, faculty and staff, area business and community leaders, elected officials, and representatives from colleges and universities from around the area and the Midwest.
