Indiana Tech to open fall 2020 semester on schedule

Indiana Tech will open for in-person classes on schedule for the upcoming fall semester at its main campus in Fort Wayne and its regional locations around Indiana and Kentucky. Classes for the 2020-21 traditional undergraduate academic year at the university’s main campus begin Aug. 17. Classes for the university’s College of Professional Studies program, both in-person and online, begin July 26.

The university has updated its fall traditional undergraduate calendar, eliminating fall break, which was scheduled for Oct. 12 and 13. These two break days will be added to the week of Thanksgiving, making that entire week Thanksgiving break. After Thanksgiving break, traditional undergraduate classes will move entirely online for the final two weeks of the semester, which concludes December 10. This adjustment has been made with the intent to reduce the number of students returning to main campus after domestic and international travel over Thanksgiving break.

Indiana Tech will continue to follow local, state and federal health guidance for minimizing health risks and ensuring the safety of students, faculty and staff. The university is developing detailed safety protocols to ensure social distancing and related health and safety measures are in place to minimize the risk of coronavirus exposure at each of its locations. Additionally, live-streamed and video-recorded classes will be available to allow those students with health concerns to attend classes remotely. Indiana Tech also has contingency plans in place to move classes fully online as needed, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to be a frequently changing situation.
